The Director of Sales and Marketing at Valerian Technology is a pivotal leadership and individual contributor role responsible for bridging the gap between our sales and marketing efforts to drive sustainable growth. This individual will work closely with the Chief of Staff and other key stakeholders to develop and execute a cohesive strategy that aligns with our business goals while ensuring operational excellence.
The role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of both sales and marketing principles, someone who can mentor and lead the sales and marketing efforts, analyze and optimize processes, and foster strong client relationships. This leader will play a critical role in defining and implementing sales processes, optimizing lead generation and nurturing campaigns, and leveraging data to drive continuous improvement. They will also oversee the execution of our marketing strategy, ensuring that our brand presence is strong and our content is compelling and effective.
Key responsibilities include leading the sales process from lead generation to closing deals, developing and managing lead nurturing campaigns, analyzing sales and marketing data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and setting clear, actionable goals to manage performance metrics. The Director will also mentor and train team members, building a high-performing team capable of driving growth and achieving business objectives.

Key Responsibilities Sales Process Optimization
- Lead the sales process from lead generation to closing deals.
- Create and implement effective sales processes, methodologies, and best practices to optimize performance.
- Oversee and optimize lead generation tools and campaigns to ensure we’re generating high-quality leads.
- Develop and manage lead nurturing campaigns to improve conversion rates.
- Analyze sales and marketing data to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement.
- Use this data to drive continuous improvement and report on key performance metrics to our executive team.
- Develop and offer overall sales and marketing strategy, ensuring scalability for our overall goals.
- Set clear, actionable goals and manage performance metrics.
- Implement the existing marketing strategy and Ideal Customer Profile (ICP).
- Assist with creating compelling content for social media and sales efforts, enhancing social media presence, and executing digital marketing initiatives.
- Mentor and train team members, providing guidance on sales techniques, pipeline management, and client engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and prospects to ensure high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
- Proactive: Proactive attitude, identifying opportunities and addressing challenges before they become problems.
- Sales and Marketing Expertise: Deep understanding of both sales and marketing principles and practices, with experience in developing and executing successful sales and marketing campaigns.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field required; MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years in sales and marketing roles, with 5+ years in a leadership role. Proven experience in strategic planning, lead generation, and sales process optimization. Experience in the tech industry or a similar fast-paced environment is preferred.
- Strong leadership, sales and marketing expertise, analytical skills, communication skills, proactive and driven attitude, adaptability, strategic thinking, hands-on approach, and resourcefulness.
- Proficiency in HubSpot and other sales and marketing tools. Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Console) and digital marketing platforms.
- Relevant certifications in sales, marketing, or management are a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours dependent on business needs.
