The Role

AsaMachineLearning EngineeratViaplay,you will play a pivotal role in shaping the Nästa generation of our data-driven products and services. Working at the intersection of personalization, customer engagement, and operational intelligence,you’lldesign and deploystate-of-the-artML systems that directlyimpactmillions of users across our platform.

Your responsibilities will extend far beyond model development.You’llact as a strategic partner to product,engineering, and commercial teams, translating businessobjectivesinto scalable, high-impactML solutions.Whetherenhancingourrecommendation engines,uncovering deep user insights, or enablingsmarter decision-making across the organization,your work will be central to Viaplay’s continued growth and innovation.

You’lljoin a high-performing, inclusive, and curious team of ML Engineers, Data Scientists, Analysts, and Data Engineers. WhatYou’llBe Doing
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable machine learning models for recommendation, prediction, and classificationuse cases.
  • Own andlead end-to-endML initiatives, from ideation and stakeholder alignment to development, deployment, andongoing performance evaluation.
  • Translate businessneeds into structuredMLproblems and deliver measurable, impactful outcomes.
  • Build robust, production-ready pipelines andmonitorML systems in a cloud-native environment.
  • Conductadvanced statistical analyses to uncover trends in userbehavior, content performance, and platformengagement.
  • Collaborate closely withproduct, engineering, content, commercial, and marketing teams to drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Contribute to a culture ofexperimentation, innovation, and continuous learning within the data team.
What We’re Looking For

We'reseeking someone whocombinestechnicaldepth withstrategic thinking and a curious, problem-solving mindset.

We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have at least some experience in the following:

  • Proven experience leadingMLprojects end-to-end, from problem definition and stakeholder alignment to deployment and monitoring in production.
  • Expertisein one or more ML domainssuch asLLMs, NLP, recommendation systems, or reinforcementlearning.
  • Abilityto build ML solutionsthat are scalable, robust, and explainable, not just performant in isolation.
  • Strongexperience deploying ML models in cloud environments (preferably AWS)andusing containerization tools like Docker.
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflowforreliable ML pipeline execution and monitoring
  • Solidsoftware engineeringfundamentals.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in applied Machine Learning within production environments.
  • Strong academic background in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, ora relatedquantitative field.
It’s a bonus if you have:
  • Experiencewithrecommender systems, personalization, or content optimization — ideally in media, streaming, or e-commerce.
  • Familiarity withMLOpspractices, including CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, and productionobservability.
  • Exposure to real-time or near-real-time ML architectures and streaming data systems.
