Primrock’s ambition is to reshape the Nordic electricity market by building both the assets and the algorithms that run them harder and smarter than anyone else. We’re expanding our founding development team at Ideon Science Park in Lund. Join us!
Your Hem base will be production software, systems integration and platform architecture. You will build the platform connecting market data, forecasting and optimization with automated trading, dispatch, asset control, validation, fault management and settlement.
We are looking for a midfielder: someone with depth in software engineering and distributed systems, and the ability to work across data, electricity markets, optimization and physical operations.
The Development Agenda is Primrock’s defining development program for the coming 18 months. During 2026–2027, we will:
Expand our portfolio from selected ancillary services to the full stack of Nordic capacity and energy-activation markets.
Establish automated participation in the Nord Pool day-ahead and intraday markets.
Dynamically allocate limited asset capacity between ancillary services, electricity trading and local customer obligations.
Develop methods for maintaining the endurance and operating readiness of energy-limited assets.
Build scalable Capacity-as-a-Service and Quality-as-a-Service solutions for commercial and industrial customers.
Connect central optimization with standardized distributed measurement, communications and PLC-based control.
Your work will turn this agenda into one running system.
About the teamPrimrock is building a compact development team around five to six high-capacity experts with overlapping capabilities—from measurement and data, through optimization, to trading, dispatch and physical execution.
Each person will have a clear Hem Tjänst, but nobody will work in isolation. Primrock’s founders will remain directly involved in the development work. We will continue to frame the principal problems, set priorities, contribute market, commercial and operational knowledge, review proposed solutions and work closely with the team as the platform is developed.
About the roleYour focus will be the central software and integration layer through which Primrock operates a distributed portfolio of flexible energy assets.
The platform must maintain an accurate view of asset capability, commitments, Tjänsts, schedules, instructions and measured delivery across systems operating at different time scales and with different failure modes.
You will develop the services through which forecasts and optimization results become executable orders and dispatch instructions, while confirmations, measurements and deviations return for validation, feedback and settlement.
This is not a conventional enterprise-integration or pure DevOps role. You will build operational software that must remain correct when messages are delayed or duplicated, data conflict, orders are rejected, connections fail, assets become unavailable or an operator intervenes.
The objective is a reusable platform with common data models, configurable adapters and controlled workflows—not project-specific integrations.
What you will doDesign the architecture connecting market data, forecasting, optimization, trading, dispatch, distributed control, validation and settlement.
Create common representations of assets, capabilities, states, commitments, schedules, Tjänsts, orders, trades, instructions and measured delivery.
Build APIs, services and adapters for Nord Pool, TSOs, DSOs, balance-responsible parties, customers and Primrock’s site systems.
Translate market, regulatory, contractual and technical requirements into workflows, validation rules, interfaces and evidence records.
Develop functions for automated day-ahead and intraday trading, including validation, order management, Tjänsts and reconciliation.
Implement controlled handover from optimization and trading to physical dispatch, including capability checks and exception handling.
Integrate analytical and optimization models into stateful workflows with controlled versions and fall-back behaviour. The system must handle retries, duplicate messages, stale data, partial failure and recovery without unintended actions or inconsistent Tjänsts.
Implement databases, time-series services and transaction records linking bids and instructions with measured delivery, deviations and settlement.
Establish monitoring, logging, alarms, health checks and recovery procedures for reliable 24/7 operation.
Build environments for historical replay, simulation, shadow operation and controlled release, supported by automated testing, deployment and rollback.
Work closely with our data scientists, applied scientists and distributed energy systems engineers so that data, decisions and physical execution form one coherent process.
Who we are looking forYou have a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or another relevant field, or equivalent professional experience.
You have experience developing production software for distributed, operational or transaction-oriented systems.
You have strong capability in one or more languages such as Python, Java, Kotlin, C#, Go, Rust or C++, together with practical experience of APIs, databases, time-series data, message queues or event-driven systems.
You understand distributed-system failure modes and can reason clearly about state transitions, idempotency, reconciliation, auditability and recovery.
You are comfortable with Linux-based systems and modern testing and deployment methods. Experience with containers, infrastructure and observability tools is valuable.
Experience from electricity markets, algorithmic trading, industrial IoT or other continuously operating systems is useful, but not required. Integrating analytical models, optimization or physical control systems is an advantage.
You can move between architecture and implementation: design the workflow, write the service, inspect the data and investigate why an outcome differed from the intention.
You communicate professionally in English. Swedish is an advantage, but exceptional candidates without Swedish are welcome to apply.
Most importantly, you combine engineering depth with practical judgment and collaborative ability. You understand that the value lies in the complete chain from external requirement and data to decision, physical execution and settlement.

About the jobThe Tjänst is full-time and based at Primrock’s office at Ideon Science Park in Lund. It is on-site and not offered as remote or hybrid.
