Keep reading ALTEN Sverige is currently seeking an experienced Software Application & Calibration Engineer to join one of our key clients within the automotive sector, working 100% on-site in Gothenburg. You will be part of a highly skilled thermal systems team, taking ownership of software application and calibration activities for complex thermal systems in heavy-duty vehicles, from early development phases all the way to industrialization. ABOUT THE ROLE As a Software Application & Calibration Engineer – Thermal Systems, you will work close to the vehicle and the real product, ensuring optimal performance of thermal management functions through software development, calibration, and system-level understanding. You will collaborate closely with system engineers, software developers, and testing teams, contributing to both hands-on vehicle work and software-related activities. Your main responsibilities: Develop, apply, and calibrate software for thermal systems such as coolant loops, refrigerant loops, parking heaters, and coolant pumps Work hands-on with vehicles to assess thermal system behavior and performance Analyze system interactions (pressure, flow, electrical behavior) and suggest software or calibration improvements Define, refine, and validate system and software requirements Support late-stage development and industrialization phases Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust and reliable thermal management solutions Requirements & System Engineering Tools In this role, you will actively work with requirement definition, refinement, and validation. Typical tools and practices include: Requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS / DOORS Nästa or similar System and software requirement documentation and traceability tools Experience working with functional and non-functional requirements Understanding of system-level requirements related to pressure, flow, electrical behavior, and thermal performance Requirement change management and impact analysis Collaboration with system engineers to translate system requirements into software and calibration needs Experience with OEM-specific or in-house requirement tools is considered a plus. WHO YOU ARE We are looking for a proactive, curious, and solution-oriented engineer who enjoys working close to the vehicle and taking responsibility for complex systems. Your profile: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering (Thermal, Control, Mechatronics, Electrical, or similar) Experience in software application, calibration, or control of complex systems Background within thermal systems, control systems, or automotive calibration is highly valued Hands-on experience with vehicle testing and real-world validation Understanding of software behavior in embedded or control systems Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset Fluent in English, both written and spoken Personality, ownership, and the ability to navigate complex systems are considered as important as technical background.
