Laboratory Engineer, R&D Material Optimization

This is a great opportunity to join the Material Optimization team and work cross Essitys personal care products and brands, in close collaboration with the Global Product Management and Product Assortment Management teams, our Laboratory- and R&D teams and manufacturing.

About the role

Due to an internal move and to continue our focus on delivering material solutions for innovations and Material Optimization,working with strong global- and local brands within Baby Care, Feminine/Intimate Hygiene and Incontinence Care.

As laboratory engineer, you create value by being part in risk assessments, design verification and delivering laboratory analysis and conclusions as a base for business decisions. In your role you will be faced with various tasks, both practical and theoretical. You will be responsible for planning and executing the laboratory testing for raw material development and product optimization activities, while safeguarding product functionality as well as customer and consumer needs. The projects and activities primarily focus areas are securing an optimal material supply base, value engineering and quality related. The team is a mix of Material Optimization Engineers, Material Development Managers and Laboratory Engineers. Majority of the team are based in Gothenburg, but with team members also in Philadelphia.

What You Will Do

• Plan, test, analyze and statistically evaluate products and solutions within your own product areas.

• Present, document and report test results including recommendations.

• Evaluate new or existing product and/or material performance as laboratory expert in material optimization projects and work in cross-functional teams.

• Lead or be and an active team member in material optimization enabling activities.

• Laboratory lead within material optimization activities (such as value engineering and securing quality).

• Provide laboratory expertise to stakeholders and the projects.

• Maintain knowledge about the test methods within your area of responsibility.

Who you are

• Technical university degree within relevant discipline (BSc preferably in Chemistry, Mechanical, Polymers, Textile or Pulp and Paper) or relevant work experience.

• Ideally experience from laboratory work with hygiene products

• Ideally great experience of statistical analysis and analytical programs

• Good and communication and presentation skills in written reports as well as presenting

• Fluent in English

• Open- and positive mindset with ability to handle ambiguity.

• Proactive, action oriented and drive for result.

• Stakeholder-, customer- and consumer oriented.
