This is an opportunity to be involved and influence some of the most exciting projects in infrastructure and industry in Sweden and across the Nordic region. You will have the chance to contribute to the development of our discipline within Road and Highway to the next level. You will be leading a national team of talented specialists and expand the team to strengthen our value proposition to our clients.

The projects in the discipline Roads and Highways are focused both on large infrastructure projects (major road- and railway projects) and private and municipal urban development. The team is specialized within early-stage location studies, multidisciplinary design, construction documentation, and support during the construction phase. In surveying technology, the team conduct traditional surveys, drone-based measurements and filming, as well as advanced laser scanning. Our projects are planned and executed from a multidisciplinary perspective, closely collaborating with experts in project management, BIM, traffic planning, stormwater management, water and sewage, railways, landscape architecture, geotechnics, structural engineering, cost estimation, environmental planning, climate adaptation and sustainability. Examples of ongoing projects are several stretches of the East link (Ostlänken), Railway plan (Järnvägsplan) for Borås, road plan (vägplan) for road 168 in Kungälv, roads and traffic solutions for the new station Korsvägen in The West Link project (Västlänken).

Your most important responsibility will be to lead, develop, and engage the team of specialists located in Gothenburg, Stockholm, Helsingborg and Malmö. There are also colleagues in India that are included in resource management responsibilities. Operations will be driven mainly by digital and distance management but some traveling between offices and projects will be necessary for site visits and meetings with employees and clients. As line manager you also will be a part av the Leadership team within Transportation, Water and Environment in Infrastructure in COWI Sweden.

Your key activities will be:

• Execute on the department action plan and the strategy within your discipline
• Provide technical expertise and business acumen in bid work and actively contribute in projects e.g. act as discipline lead / senior specialist or project manager within infrastructure and urban development.
• Day-to-day people management, recruitment and onboarding activities
• Lead/support project teams for the undertaking of projects. Plan, prioritize and lead assignment effectively.
• Manage short term staffing and provide input to strategic staff workforce planning
• Setting clear targets and provide the foundation for performance and individual development of your employees
• Be active in client relations, market sales activities and strategic development.

On top of that, you will have:

• Relevant academic education such as MSc. or BSc. in civil engineering or a related field.
• Have previous experience in a leadership role, preferably as a line manager or project manager.
• Have at least five years of experience in design and/or project management within infrastructure and urban development. Experience from a consulting engineering firm or a technically strong client organization is a plus.
• Be fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written, and possess strong communication skills in English.
